Stocks, bonds and fund calculators
Four calculators for portfolio questions: allocation, bond pricing, the long-run cost of fund fees and employee stock options.
Fee and allocation questions are where advisers earn trust. A client who sees what a 1% fee does over 25 years understands the value conversation better than any brochure.
When portfolio questions come up
Asset Allocation
When cash piles up or a rollover arrives. “how should I invest my money”
Mutual Fund Fees
When fee disclosures or statements arrive. “how much am I paying in fund fees”
Stock Option
At a job offer, a vesting date or before an IPO. “how much are my stock options worth”
Market Value of Bonds
When interest rates move and statements show bond losses. “why did my bonds lose value”
Stocks, bonds & funds: questions firms ask
Does the allocation calculator recommend a portfolio?
No. It shows a mix based on the client's inputs as an illustration, not a recommendation.
Why would an adviser show a fee calculator?
Because clients ask. A transparent fee comparison supports a fee conversation on the firm's terms.
Does the bond calculator handle callable bonds?
No. It values a plain fixed-coupon bond from yield and maturity.
Who uses the stock option calculator?
Employees with options, and CPA firms that handle the tax side of exercises.
Does the stock option calculator handle ISOs and AMT?
It estimates option value; AMT on ISOs needs professional analysis.
Can a broker-dealer rep use these?
Check with your broker-dealer first; FINRA Rule 2214 sets disclosure requirements for investment analysis tools.
Do they use live market data?
No. Clients enter values, so results never depend on a data feed.
Which plan includes them?
Network.
